S.A.C. are leaders in high technology tunneling techniques in Italy, specialising in the construction of tunnels, particularly under railway lines.

The sophistication of the technique that they have developed allows railway companies to continue normal operations without any disruption.

Movement Detectors are placed above the tunneling works to provide reassurance to the rail companies that the excavation works do not have any impact on the rail traffic whilst the prefabricated tunnel sections are being jacked beneath the railway.

Construction of a Cycle and Pedestrian Subway
at Reggio Emilia Station, Italy
A cycle and pedestrian subway (right) was constructed using the "Istrice" method under a network of 9 railway tracks. The tunnel needed a total push of 73.65 metres in two sections. 12 jacks were used for a total load of 3400t
