Chilling image shows miners engaged in an asbestos shovelling contest!

t was thought to be a carefree game between workmates, but it had a devastating fallout for everyone involved.

A chilling image has surfaced showing a group of miners shovelling mounds of raw blue asbestos into drums as the deadly mineral wafts through the air.

Shockingly, all of the men in the image but one have died from asbestos related diseases, with several also losing their children from exposure to the deadly mineral.

The snapshot was captured in 1962 in Wittenoom, located 1400kms northeast of Perth in Western Australia. The town was the prime source of blue asbestos in Australia before it was shut down due to rapidly escalating health concerns.
